These UCLA Sweethearts Wed in a Rooftop Ceremony in Downtown San Diego

To count off Celia and Phil’s respective bridesmaids and groomsmen, all you need to do is shout their alma matter’s famous eight-clap cheer: “One-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight. U-C-L-A. U-C-L-A. Fight! Fight! Fight!”

Each flanked by eight of their nearest and dearest, these Bruin sweethearts wed on the rooftop of Andaz San Diego. They chose the boutique hotel for how it showed off the bride’s hometown in all its glory, with sweeping skyline views outside and a California-cool vibe inside.

As for that rooftop ceremony, it was a match made in heaven with San Diego’s 70-and-sunny reputation. The sun’s rays danced through the circular altar just right, illuminating the backdrop, which was decked out in red, pink, and burgundy flowers.

The special day brought 155 of the couple’s family and friends together, all of whom were charmed by the Mr. and Mrs.’s first dance—choreographed routines for the win!

Dessert is Served

The bride’s favorite dessert of all time is the kouign-amann, described by The New York Times as “the fattiest pastry in all of Europe.” As fate would have it, the couple found a local vendor, Patisserie Melanie, who could make it!
