Why This Big Sur Destination Wedding Was Worth the One-Year Delay

Corey and Joy must have the patience of saints—they took a rain check on their wedding for almost a year! The couple’s original date was in 2017, but stormy weather made the venue in Big Sur inaccessible for months. They agonized over the decision to move the venue or the date. “We eventually decided the magic of Big Sur was worth the wait,” Joy says.

As fate would have it, everything else happened just right. The nontraditional ceremony featured advice and lessons learned from couples who’d been married for varying lengths of time, from one to 30 years. And dinner finished just as the sun set over the ocean.

Not even a 10 o’clock noise ordinance stopped the celebration. The guests were provided with headphones, turning the dance party into a silent disco. It’s true—good things come to those who wait!
