Spreading the wedding cheer this holiday—er, proposal—season, Exquisite Weddings teamed up with Heather Lake at Fox 5 San Diego to share what wedding trends to watch for in 2020.
Reporting live from Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa, editor Sarah Pfledderer along with fabulous vendors such as Korie Younger from Bliss Events, Dawn Weisberg of Tularosa, Paulette Khoury from Archive Bridal, and Cherry Estrella from Glamour by Cherry all offered the inside scoop on what planning brides and grooms should be on the lookout for in the new year.
For starters, Younger, Bliss Events’ wedding planner extraordinaire, says the best place to begin is with the venue. Once you have that nailed down, the smaller details will fall into place.
On the gowns front in 2020, dresses are getting lacier and racier, thanks to beautiful 3D lace details along with plunging necklines and open backs. Archive Bridal proved, per their three gorgeous models, that the vintage look is also gaining popularity with long veils and vintage headpieces and hairpins.
Flowers are getting more monochromatic with dusty pinks and light blues, as well as the addition of flowers like baby’s breath to add some structure to the bouquets. Another floral trend Weisberg from Tularosa says to look for in 2020 is the return of popular ’80s flowers like Stargazer lilies and carnations.
In 2020, Estrella, makeup maven and owner of Glamour by Cherry, says brides are vying for a hairstyle that looks great but are also functional—think an updo that will stay all night (yes, even through your amazing dance solo) but will not be in blowing across your face during the ceremony.
