It’s said that punctuality is the soul of business—Carl and Tania learned that much in business school, where they met. But what wasn’t on the syllabus? Southern California traffic, like the jam that threw a wrench into Carl’s proposal timeline. When they arrived late for their reservation at Geoffrey’s Malibu, Tania spotted her sister in a giant mirror, taking pictures. “He had no choice but to do it that second!” she says. Equal parts upscale rustic and elegant, their big day at Hummingbird Nest Ranch was also on one of Simi Valley’s hottest days to date—temperatures creeped upward of 100! “We were really concerned about our guests being comfortable,” Tania says. But when you get right down to business, love still conquers all—even the heat. “It ended up being the most perfect day, because we were so thrilled to have everyone we love in one place.”
