Sometimes moms do know best. At least that was the case when TJ’s mom called Nikki to ask for help solving her son’s problem of having no prom date. “Even though Nikki was good friends with my sister, I had never actually met her,” TJ recalls. “My mom just gave the phone to me. Whether it was fate or utter stupidity, she said yes.” A few years later, Nikki said yes again. Their big day, bedecked in navy blues, went from a ceremony at St. Gregory the Great to a reception at Balboa Park’s Japanese Friendship Garden, where the guest experience was a top priority: A letterbrush artist created gifts out of attendees’ names on the spot, the whole bridal party performed a choreographed dance, and a s’mores bar ended the night. “When we started dating, our wedding day was just an idea that seemed so far away,” Nikki says. “When the moment was finally here, it felt very surreal.”
Nothing but Blue
Nikki assigned her bridesmaids different shades of blue to purchase individually, and hoped for the best that they would all mesh. “I am so pleased it turned out well,” she says. “Everyone looked amazing!”
