The yellow dress was merely the icing on the cake for Hannah and Sam’s epically creative wedding day. With so much artistry to the couple’s credit—she’s an art director at San Diego Magazine, he a professional musician—they used a friend’s private residence as their big-day canvas. “I incorporated as many design pieces and signage as I could,” Hannah says, “because it’s what I love to do… and I just couldn’t stop!” Consider their newspaper-style program with the headline “Experts predict ‘Happily Ever After,’” and lawn flamingos directing guests to their seats with signs that read “Flock this way.” The groom, too, pitched in, playing the guitar as the bridal party walked down the aisle, before handing it off to a groomsman to strum the chords for Hannah’s big entrance, set to The Beatles’ “Here Comes the Sun.” Bright eyed and full of bright ideas, the bride says, “The whole day was beyond perfect.”
Craft Your Heart Out
The newspaper program, invites, signage, and other clever touches were custom made by the bride. “Designing, painting, and crafting all of my projects for the wedding was an excuse to flex my creative skills—and I loved it!”
All Together Now
“We tried to infuse as much of our personality as possible into the event—we had family members create the arch and the favors, and close friends perform on the day of.”
“I was the most nervous about the ceremony, but once we were up there I was just so thrilled to get married.”
