Turns out Cupid still has a few arrows in his quiver, and in Austen and Dominic’s case, he proved he’s still a sharp shooter. The couple met on OkCupid and planned their first date on Dominic’s birthday. Three years and a deployment later, he planned to propose on another birthday: his employer’s 242nd, aka the Marine Corps Ball in Palm Springs. After she said yes, the preparations ensued—“the best moment of planning was definitely the cake and donut tasting,” Austen jests—for a wedding celebration at Decoy Dockside Dining in San Marcos, centered on the importance of the family, their friends, and the military. With the men dapper in their Marine blues, and the bride flawless in her strapless dress, the big day was the best balance of modern and classic.
