With “fun” their only MO in mind, Michael and Sara looked no further than The Living Desert Zoo & Gardens for a big day full of good times. It began with a greeting by Mr. Prickles—a porcupine with the ability to high-five—followed by a combined cocktail reception and giraffe feeding. The affair fully delivered on the newlyweds’ playful projections, down to their own photo op on an animal carousel. “We were laughing the entire day, and our guests kept commenting on how happy we were,” Sara says, but the best part of the day had nothing to do with their newfound furry friends. “Saying our personal vows to each other—just me and him, having a little chat about our love—gives me goosebumps.”
Cheers to ‘Yes’
He proposed at their favorite bar in Austin, Texas (where Sara lived for a stint after college) during a visit for the Austin City Limits Music Festival. As Sara recounts, “I ugly-cried, and said yes just as our group rounded the corner with drinks and everyone in the bar started screaming with us.”
Go For Green
Embracing the desert theme and arid climate, the bride’s bouquet and other floral arrangements included a rare element—air plants.
“It is not ‘just one day,’ it’s the start of your next chapter as a couple, with the best memories, people, and stories that you will never forget.”
