Right after she said “yes,” Matt and Saundra heard the usual wedding planning warnings right and left, like “The day goes by so fast; it’s done in an instant!” Which is why Saundra answered her gut suspicion—Why not make this last all day? And so, with 35 of their dearest family and friends in tow, the couple booked an Airbnb in Palm Springs for an “all-day wedding.” In tune with their beautifully executed vintage Hawaiian theme, Studio Palma adorned the 10 a.m. ceremony with palms and big blooms aplenty, followed by a family-style meal prepared by Saundra’s mom. “I remember looking at how happy everyone was,” she says, “and I just felt blessed that we had found each other and that we were in that moment.”
Another moment she’ll never forget? When she and her husband kicked off the pool party—complete with a Slip ’N Slide and a flip-cup tournament—by jumping in the water in her wedding dress.
High-flying Exit
Considering the bride and groom didn’t have a formal grand exit, Saundra’s mom surprised them with a helicopter ride back to San Diego at the end of the wedding weekend.
Doggone Cute
No loved ones were left out of the ceremony—especially not the couple’s pup, Kailani.
On tying the knot in Palm Springs, Saundra says, “I thought this would be an incredible way to show our family and friends from far away a little piece of our paradise.”
