Just like gravity, the attraction was undeniable when Brittny and Mike met for the first time—at the tech company where they both worked. After a few more trips around the sun, they opted to be partners for the long haul. Given their Southern California families, proximity to beaches was a must. So the San Francisco couple secured the Ole Hanson Beach Club in San Clemente for their big day. “The intimacy of the space, the Spanish architecture—not to mention those stairs—the venue was a dream,” Brittny says. Nothing could hold her down as she walked the aisle with her dad and stepdad to “Gravity” by John Mayer, her favorite artist. Mike surprised her with more music to her ears, working some of the lyrics into his vows: “I walked into a conference room six years ago and bam, there you were. That feeling was gravity,” he said. “I promise to keep you where the light is; that light is our life and our love.”
Dad Knows Best
They called on the groom’s father to be their handyman for the bigger projects—he built the arch, the escort card frames, and the guest book.
Their mutual friend officiated the ceremony, sprinkling in bits of the couples’ history and reading Elliot Arnold’s “Apache Marriage Blessing.”
Nature Lovers
They named their tables after places they’d traveled to together, including several national parks. “We love the outdoors,” Brittny says, “and in lieu of favors, we decided to make a donation to the National Park Foundation.”
