You might recognize Aly and Jason from The Style Guys, the lifestyle and fashion blog that catapulted them to E! network fame—and true to the moniker, their midcentury-meets-tropical nuptials were stylishly Palm Springs. The Calgary, Alberta couple—who met in a bar (or as they recount it, “the old-fashioned way”)—applied their glamorous taste to every detail of their destination wedding: the lush palms; the chopsticks styled atop the dinner plates; the dress code encouraging patterns and prints (not even the officiant was exempt); and the pièce de résistance, a drag show that kicked off the reception… and ended in a conga line!
Sweet Traditions
Glitz and glam aside, the wedding was no less steeped in Ismaili Muslim tradition, including a sapatia ceremony in which the partners step on clay plates with ingredients like lentils and sugar, symbolizing positive fortunes.
Nothing says “pain is beauty” like bearing the Palm Springs heat in Mr. Turk suits.
