George and Margaret’s Glam Palm Springs Wedding

George Margaret Palm Springs weddingBy Erica Nichols

When George and Margaret’s wedding guest list was inching into Big Fat Greek Wedding territory—ahem, upward of 1,000 people—the couple knew they had to ditch their original plan of marrying in their home state of Oregon and go for something different and, importantly, capable of holding their closest kin and friends.

Enter: Palm Springs.

It’s been Margaret’s family’s go-to getaway since the 1950s, and the St. George Greek Orthodox Church of the Desert there is where they attending Sunday services during those vacations.

“This was a tradition we all valued so much,” Margaret says. “George and I thought it would be very special to bring our families and close friends to our home away from home to celebrate and build more memories in a place we love so much.”

Following a traditional ceremony at the steeple, the newlyweds and their pared down guests turned to the ultra-chic and mid-century modern Riviera Palm Springs for the reception.

Adorned in crystals, pearls, blush and gold tones, and lots of candles (hello, mood lighting!), the venue delivered a glamorous setting for the Greek wedding they’d had big fat hopes for.
