Derek and Jamie’s relationship began on a higher note than most—they met on a flight from Boston to Amsterdam (she was a flight attendant, he a passenger in first class). After breaking up the distance with lots of conversation, they had their first date in the Low Country. Fast-forward three years and Derek put some of his frequent flyer miles to use, flying the lead singer of their favorite band, Dalton and the Sheriffs, out to help surprise Jamie with a little show and proposal on Coronado Beach. The Bostonians opted to tie the knot in Jamie’s hometown, at La Jolla’s Wedding Bowl in Cuvier Park. Following “I dos” backdropped by sweeping shoreline views, the celebration commenced with a reception at Herringbone. “We brought in flowers, but it didn’t need much decoration, because it’s already so beautiful on its own,” Jamie says. The decor the couple did bring paid homage to where they met… thousands of feet up in the sky!
Floral Framing
“We had a gorgeous arch of flowers that we said ‘I do’ under. It was magical.”
Planning a Pacific wedding from the Atlantic meant multiple trips to San Diego for dress shopping, finding a florist, cake tastings, an engagement shoot, and securing other vendors. Thankfully, they had plenty of miles saved up for the big day.
