Don Draper said that “advertising is based on one thing: happiness,” which Carlos and Kevin must have had in mind while planning their “midcentury masculine Mad Men-chic” wedding celebration. The Avalon Hotel & Bungalows Palm Springs, with its Old Hollywood aesthetic, was the perfect setting for the big-day details to fall into place, from personalized menu booklets to a swanky library with a nod to the couple’s love for travel (They’ve touched down in 30 countries together!), and a “States of Our Union” seating chart representing where each guest hailed from, plus 36 midcentury modern chandeliers hanging over the dining tables. Delicate touches and exquisite taste aside, the grooms couldn’t resist the most time-honored Southern California way to end a long party—a late-night delivery from In-n-Out Burger.
Smooth Move
Velvet was the standout textile in Carlos and Kevin’s wedding design, down to the burgundy drapery backdrops, charcoal napkins, and bow ties.
Technically, Kevin popped the question first—casually saying, “Will you marry me?” at a dance party in Palm Springs. But it was Carlos who planned out a formal proposal a few months later during a trip to Yosemite National Park.
