A romantic getaway for two in Miami turned into a plot twist executed by the whole family, when Michael’s daughters helped him pop the question to Laura during an elegant dinner. “As we were getting ready to take our first sip of Champagne, I turned around and saw his two beautiful daughters—whom I had no idea were flown out to Florida by Michael’s mother and father—standing behind me with a big banner that said, ‘Lulu, will you marry our daddy?’” The Missourians opted for another destination affair in their Catamaran Resort Hotel and Spa wedding. With just a 30-person guest list, the wedding was as intimate as could be and the perfect start as a new family—plus one more, when they welcomed their firstborn the following summer.
“I had always dreamed of having a beach wedding,” Laura says. “There was no question we would choose San Diego.”
Entertainment Made Easy
Lawn games, plush lounges, a s’mores bar, and a fire pit were just a few of the fun details for the whole family.

“Seeing Michael for the first time that day, I would relive it a million times,” Laura says. “I will never forget the look on his face.”
