After Jordan and Kami crossed paths at a line-dancing bar in San Luis Obispo, they knew deep down they’d found a do-si-do partner for life—though it took a few more bashful encounters for someone to make a move. A shared love for country music, horses, and trucks led them to date and later saddle up together in the Bay Area. Jordan got down on one knee after a sunset horseback ride, setting the tone for their country-themed ceremony among the decommissioned cattle chutes, adobe barn, and carriage house of Leo Carrillo Ranch in Carlsbad. Of course, they capped off the wedding night with an homage to their past. “We did a fast-paced swing dance that we had done so many times together, but this time everyone had gotten out of their seats to circle around and watch us twirl, dip, and swing our way into a happily ever after.
(B)Ranching Out
“We fell in love with the rustic feel of the Spanish-style ranch, and knew the location was perfect for showcasing our personalities with friends and family. The location had everything we wanted, including a giant pepper tree in the middle of a hand-set flagstone patio, making for the most beautiful setting for our ceremony.”
Hunting for Inspiration
Jordan and Kami honored the ranch’s rich history in the decorations. Leo Carillo was a hunter and outdoorsman, so they included floating duck decoys, camouflage can coolers, and shotgun shells repurposed into Jordan’s cufflinks.
