When Lauren asked her cousin to deliver a variation on Elliot Arnold’s classic “Apache Marriage Blessing” at her wedding, she especially liked the line “You can ride out the storms when clouds hide the face of the sun in your lives… remembering that even if you lose sight of it for a moment, the sun is still there.” She meant for it to be figurative, but mother nature had more literal plans. Raindrops sprinkled on the outdoor ceremony as her cousin read the poem, and in hindsight, the couple attests, it must have been fated to happen this way: Demetrio had to postpone his proposal once because of inclement weather, and he ultimately popped the question during another storm because he couldn’t bear another rain check. As for their ceremony, which was cut shorter than anticipated? As it turns out, even those rain clouds had a silver lining. Lauren says, “I would relive it all over and over.”
Silver Linings
“Our ceremony was cut shorter than anticipated due to the rain,” Lauren says, “but that didn’t stop us from having an amazing time, dancing the night away once we made it indoors to the reception.”
