Colby and Irena live and breathe the adage “have love, will travel.” Their romantic engagement took place in Paris, in front of the iconic glass pyramids of the Louvre Museum. And inspired by their mutual love of exploring the world, their Temecula nuptials were an aptly worldly affair but at a venue that felt much like home—Wiens Family Cellars, where Irena is a wedding and special events coordinator.

With industry experience to her benefit, she knew how to execute her vision of a wedding unique to her and Colby’s love story. “Instead of choosing a color theme, we opted to focus on textures like wood, copper and marble,” she says, noting that meant gifting custom engraved watches and cufflinks to the guys and howlite marble jewelry from Australia to the bridesmaids. The guys also donned wood bowties from Ukraine, but the crowning garb was the groom’s custom designed rosewood wedding band with a world map burned on the inside.

The couple had lived in Colorado, so their connection to the outdoors inspired them to use greenery in place of more traditional flowers, which only added to the whimsey of the celebration that kicked off after a relaxing family weekend hosted in a 24,000 square foot wine country mansion.

After the sweet ceremony at the winery, guests feasted on Spanish tapas and a cake decorated with a copper-colored world map. Loved ones topped off the night by signing a clear glass globe “guestbook” as means to forever make their mark on Colby and Irena’s happily ever—one that continued with a honeymoon to Spain.
