Ashley and Justin’s Free-Spirited Fire Garden Wedding

Ashley and Justin’s romance has been no slow burn.

They felt a spark upon their first run-in at a party, spending the entire night getting to know each other and have since been the light of each other’s lives as they’ve wandered the world together—they got engaged during a trip to India and Turkey.

“Around sunset we found a secluded beach,” Justin recalls. “I asked Ashley if she wanted to do some AcroYoga. While she was up in the air I presented her with the ring and asked her to marry me.” To commemorate the occasion, they scooped up water from the nearby Ganges River, an element that would later be incorporated in their wedding ceremony at The Fire Garden.

A pure reflection of their bohemian spirits, the wedding (and first look) united facets of their favorite self-expression community and festival, Burning Man, and colors and traditions of the countries they’ve visited.

Orange and maroon marigolds, symbolizing positivity and optimism in Indian weddings, hung behind Ashley and Justin during a water-pouring ceremony, using their Ganges River reserve. Flowers, carpets, and rugs lined the ground and aisles of their outdoor nuptials surrounded by desert flora. And guests ate charcuterie and appetizers on Eastern floor pillows inside an oversized tent.

As nods to Burning Man, they donned the community’s iconic weatherproof goggles during their cake cutting and, most enchanting of all, rode into the reception on a “magic carpet” their friend built to ride around the annual festival.

With elements of old and new, the couple was ready to embrace a whole new world: Forever as two.
