Jake and Laura’s love story was similar to many San Diegans’—they attended San Diego State University and met in Pacific Beach. The proposal, on the other hand, was anything but conventional.
After many important relationship milestones (hello, puppy!), Jake proposed to Laura in an epic scavenger hunt. Laura was whisked off to get her nails done, then to her future nephews who helped her with a clue, which led to her in-laws, and finally, to Moonlight Beach in Encinitas. There, Jake was waiting for her and proposed with friends hiding in the bushes, filming the whole thing.
Their wedding was a gorgeous seaside ceremony at Martin Johnson House, followed by an intimate and adorable—their dachshund walked down the aisle, flower crown and all!—celebration at Estancia La Jolla.
Laura’s advice to wedding planning couples? Make each and every task special.
“Have fun,” she says. “Try and make each activity into a date. Stamping envelopes? Pop some bubbly with your fiancé!”
