Ben was Rebecca’s first and last experience with online dating. The couple’s lives were changed by the dating app Bumble—and then again when, after a romantic beach picnic, Ben popped the question at sunset and whisked Rebecca to a surprise engagement party with their closest friends and family. In the days leading up to their bohemian outdoor wedding at the San Diego Botanic Garden, the couple was dismayed there was rain in the forecast. “I was devastated to see my initial vision die—a sunny ceremony followed by a romantic night dancing under the stars,” Rebecca says. In the end, it all came up roses. “I will never forget tossing aside my umbrella for our first look as we kissed in the misty rain,” she says, “or the pitter-patter of drops on the foliage overhang as we said ‘I do.’” When it rains, it most certainly pours!
An Arbor of Love
Ben built the wooden arbor, and guests sang along to Audrey Assad’s “Be Thou My Vision” when Rebecca’s dad gave her away.
