After meeting on OkCupid in 2013, Paul and Richard were inseparable. Richard moved in with Paul and his parents on the estate where they would one day marry, and two years later, Paul surprised Richard with a proposal during a trip to Texas. Their wedding was as vibrant and fun as the couple themselves, filled with confetti cannons, a flash mob, and laser-cut place cards and signage created by Paul, who also donned DIY Swarovski crystal-encrusted shoes. The wedding speeches won’t be forgotten anytime soon, either. Katie, one of Richard’s groomsmaids, rewrote and performed a special version of Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love.” Needless to say, the venue was jumpin’ jumpin’!

Paul learned how to use an industrial laser cutter to create the brightly colored acrylic place cards, table numbers, and signage. He also created the wedding invitations and did all of the calligraphy.
Gone in a Flash
Following the ceremony, the entire wedding party broke out into a flash mob, with confetti cannons exploding at the end of the dance.
Paul’s shoes featured a Swarovski crystal-encrusted octopus emoji—a symbol that’s also inside the grooms’ rings. It’s something they’ve always texted to one another to express their love.
