First impressions are often wrong. That’s the takeaway from Corey and Faven’s initial encounter. She was swept off her feet by a guy she assumed was a security guard—Corey is, after all, 6-foot-4 and a solid 300 pounds. But he waited until their second date to reveal his true profession, pointing to Qualcomm Stadium as they were driving by, saying that’s where he worked—as a defensive end for the then-San Diego Chargers. One daughter and many loving memories later, Corey popped the question. They sealed their future with a two-part wedding celebration at the Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, blending a traditional and an Ethiopian ceremony as a callout to Faven’s heritage.
Flaunt Those Florals
At the stunning main event, Corey and Faven were wed under a gorgeous arbor of pink, white, and lavender roses, a theme that continued into the touchdown of all ballroom reception.
Pretty in Pink
“Everything was so beautiful: the design, the flowers, the smell. When I walked into that room, I teared up,” Faven says.
A Cultural Affair
As a nod to Faven’s roots, the couple held a vibrant Ethiopian ceremony in addition to their traditional nuptials.
