John and Rosie’s Perfectly Matched Real Wedding

John and Rosie's perfectly matched San Diego wedding

By Jordan Lemke

An online encounter led John and Rosie together after they had both experienced their fair share of romantic twists and turns. Looking for a fresh start, the divorcees met on a dating website.

“Just like two moderns, we met on Match. It had worked for my daughter, I figured it might work for me,” says John, amused.

Despite Rosie originally critiquing his Match profile photo (he hadn’t realized that he was still wearing a wedding ring!), the two began to date.

It was while attending a spring showing of the play Constellations that John had a matrimonial epiphany. He recalls, “Two people have only so much time to live and to love.” Soon after, he proposed. And Rosie said yes, proving one need not be young to have stars in their eyes for another.

The ceremony, a simple affair at San Diego’s Morgan Run Club & Resort, was followed by a true celebration—the reception. A dance party broke out, thanks to live vocal stylings of Pop Vinyl, and Cute Cakes lived up to its name with intricate detailing that matched Rosie’s dress.

As for the newlyweds? Their Match made online has become a happily ever after offline.
