Jaffa-Tel-Aviv designer Julie Vino made our jaws drop the moment Nicole Phelps negotiated the aisle in her custom-made gown to tie the knot to the most decorated Olympian in the world. And with each new collection released since, we at EW have struggled to pick our chops back up. Now, San Diego brides have reason to drool over the sultry designs once more—in person.
The White Flower Bridal Boutique is hosting its first Julie Vino Trunk Show December 21-22, 27-30, and January 2-7. All events are by appointment only and, for any gown purchased during the show, Vino provides a free robe.
“Julie is a designer unlike anything that we currently carry at The White Flower,” says Stacey Weckler-Kerr, manager of the Bankers Hill boutique. “She is more edgy and isn’t afraid to be different. We are always looking for the next big designer, and Julie is well on her way!”
Vino’s worldly dresses are sewn from fabrics sourced around the globe, include beading from India and lace from France, Weckler-Kerr says, adding of a more practical plus: “The majority of Julie’s gowns already have built in SPANX and support, which makes the brides figure look amazing.”
Any girl can get behind that. Still, Weckler-Kerr warns, Vino’s designs aren’t for the “cookie cutter bride.”
“Julie is classic with a modern and sexy twist. There is nothing like her in the states.”
Until December 21, that is.
