Jeff Sudol, who works in commercial real estate, proposed to event coordinator Olivia Cameron on New Year’s Eve 2015, five years after a very successful blind date organized by a mutual friend. So it made perfect sense that the 30-year-olds said “I do” on the festive holiday exactly one year later. The Encinitas couple chose the Fairmont Grand Del Mar for their elegant 216-guest affair, which included a candlelit ceremony in the on-site chapel and a bagpiper who escorted them down the aisle as husband and wife. Afterward, partygoers dined on cheeseburgers, watched the couple dance to the Hall and Oates song “You Make My Dreams Come True,” and enjoyed a midnight countdown that ended with a confetti blast over the dance floor.
“I have always loved a classic look of whites and greens,” Olivia says. “We incorporated pops of gold to give a slight nod to the glamour of New Year’s Eve.”
Olivia loved her Antonio Gual dress as soon as she tried it on, then upped its drama by adding four feet of train!
“We chose The Grand because we felt it was the perfect place to have a New Year’s Eve wedding,” Olivia says, particularly the chapel, where they hosted their intimate ceremony.
All-white florals with organically arranged greenery enhanced the couple’s simple, elegant aesthetic.
