Elizabeth and Joel can attest that love invokes palpitations of the heart. The two medical professionals met in the operating room of a cardiac intensive care unit.
From hospital halls to the altar, the couple cemented their vows on the plush grounds of the Fairmont Grand Del Mar, enlacing their day with Jewish traditions and Hollywood flair.
Playing off the resort’s gold leaf and wrought iron embellishments with touches of gold accents and ivory florals, they also fashioned a DIY chuppah—Jewish wedding canopy—from the grounds gazebo, interweaving florals and flowing sheer fabrics against the beautiful stone structure.
Ceremonial details aside, the most memorable moment for the bride came during the reception.
“One of the funniest memories of the day is almost falling off of my chair during the hora (traditional Jewish dance where the bride and groom are hoisted into the air by their chairs),” Elizabeth says. “I had a big smile plastered on my face, because even sheer terror couldn’t overcome my supreme happiness that day.” Mazel tov!
