“Intimacy and atmosphere are everything,” says 29-year-old Nicole George, which is why she and her husband, 35-year-old Oscar Perez, picked La Jolla’s Darlington House for their 65-guest event. As a wedding planner, Nicole knew exactly what she wanted, and created much of the decor herself. The couple, who live in Long Beach but met in Las Vegas, incorporated lots of personal details into their big day, including specialty craft cocktails and a whiskey toast. “That felt much more ‘us’ than any old tradition,” Nicole says.
“We love color, so we chose a variety of rich and light hues,” Nicole says. Their picks were on gorgeous display in the vibrant florals and the wedding party’s attire.
Nicole made the dream catchers herself; each one represents a member of the couple’s family.
“We had action stations of our favorite foods, so it was pretty random,” Nicole explains. Her favorite element? The ice cream sandwiches for dessert!
The couple focused on “hosting a killer party full of our favorite things,” Nicole says, some of which were called out in this personalized DIY word search board.
