Long Beach residents Jillian Sorem, 28, and Trevor Yasuda, 29, first met through mutual friends in December 2008, at the Seal Beach Christmas Parade. They serendipitously ran into one another the very next evening and have been inseparable ever since. Six years into their relationship, Trevor surprised Jillian by proposing on the rooftop at downtown L.A. restaurant Perch while a jazz band played one of their favorite songs, “La Vie en Rose.” They got married at the Parker in Palm Springs, hosting 150 friends and family members.
“I Do” “My favorite part of the ceremony was when we exchanged the vows that we wrote,” says Jillian. “It was pure, personal, and so heartfelt.”
PALM SPRINGS PARADISE “The Parker property and decor is what sold me,” says Jillian. “You have the beautiful Palm Springs backdrop mixed with a lush garden and funky mid-century design.“
DRESSED TO IMPRESS “I knew I didn’t want the traditional strapless ball gown. I wanted something different, something that felt like me,” says Jillian of her crochet lace Daughters of Simone dress.
EASY AS PIE Instead of cake, the couple served up individual pies in mason jars from Madhouse Kitchen.
