Newport beach residents Devon Hilard, 22, and John O’Connell, 24, met in high school and both attended Chapman University together. A few weeks before graduation, John popped the question with a surprise lunch picnic in the park. The couple decided to celebrate their marriage at The Rancho Sante Fe Golf Club, just two miles from the bride’s parents’ house, so they could continue to visit it and remember their special night year after year.
Garden Variety The bridal party bouquets included a mix of protea, dahlias, anemones, scabiosa, pods, garden roses, eucalyptus, and lamb’s ear.
Dream Dress “It checked all my boxes – sleeves, lace bodice, delicate detailing – but most importantly, I felt like myself in it.”
An Organic Approach Rather than creating a mood board or official color palette for the wedding, the bridge just started picking things that she gravitated toward. “It slowly evolved into a look that I loved.”
