For Taylor McAuliff and Tristan Ribar, both 30, the story unfolds backwards.
As co-workers in a Chicago finance firm, they developed a fast friendship; when their jobs moved them to San Diego, they became roommates with two others. “The rest is history.” Following a proposal at the Hotel del Coronado, the pair threw a “reverse destination” wedding for their 125 mostly out-of-state guests. The stunning location featured scenic ocean views and provided a spectacular sunset backdrop for the couple’s first dance.
Rustic Accents
To enhance her idea of sophisticated beach look, Tristan adorned the dinner tables and outside space with lanterns of various shapes and sizes.
Harmony in Design
The couple used their monogram — T & T — to tie together invitations, cake, menus, and photo booth pictures, as well as post-wedding thank you notes.
Succulent Obsession
Guests found their seats by picking up individually potted succulents, which doubled as favors. “I became obsessed with succulents once I moved to San Diego and wanted to share the love with our visiting guests.”
Signature Cocktails
“His” and “Her” drinks represented their favorites from local restaurants — Tristan’s margarita from La Puerta in the Gaslamp, and Taylor’s vodka-champagne drink from Beaumont’s La Jolla.
Picture Perfect
Mother Nature surprised the newlyweds with a stunning sundown scene for their evening celebration. “It’s funny how the one thing that is completely unplanned became one of our most memorable moments!” Welcome to San Diego, Mr. and Mrs. Ribar.
Tribute to Chi-Town
Guests enjoyed late-night Chicago-style hot dogs as a tribute to Taylor’s hometown. A posted sign stated, “No ketchup allowed!” Explains Taylor, “We Chicagoans take this very seriously!”
Champagne Shower
Echoing their engagement shoot and save-the-date cards, the bride and groom let their wedding party spray them with champagne bottles during their reception.
