Destination Wedding: Lauren and Paul

She was a cheerleader and he was a football player. While growing up in Napa, Lauren O’Bryon, 32, and Paul Shields, 33, shared homework and a few smiles in high school. After graduation, they went their separate ways- he to Minnesota, she to San Diego- but when the two bumped into each other during a visit back home, they began a long-distance relationship. Two years later, Paul moved to San Diego, and in 2013, he proposed in Encinitas. For their wedding, the couple ventured back to their Napa roots.

The wedding weekend consisted of a wine and cheese party, rehearsal dinner, and brunch; on their own, guests tasted wine and played golf. Guests also stayed in Sonoma and Napa hotels, including the River Pointe Inn and Meritage Resort.

Lauren and Paul’s wedding was full of special details. During the unity ceremony, Paul, a huge 49ers fan, and Lauren, a former Charger Girl, each poured their team-colored crystals into one pilsner glass. The couple also had each other’s fingerprints engraved on the inside of their wedding bands by Larson Jewelers, in Long Beach.
