Destination Wedding: Katy and Marc

Katy Tomek, 32, met Marc Zien, 34, nine years ago in the Callaway Golf cafeteria. It was her first day on the job – she was the receptionist and he was a club fitter.

Not long after, Marc took her to a Padres game for their first date. They dated for many years, and then, while visiting her family in Stockton, Marc gave Katy’s niece a set of play rings for her sixth birthday. Later he got down on one knee and told Katy he didn’t want her to be the only one without a new ring. He had also planned a surprise engagement party. They married in Punta Mita because they’d fallen in love with the area during many visits to Marc’s family vacation home.

The weekend activities included tacos and tequila party at a private residence, golf tournament, and the rehearsal dinner. At the reception there was mariachi music, fireworks, breakfast burritos at 1 a.m, and a dance-party-turned-pool party. When everyone jumped in the pool with their clothes on, Marc said to his bride, “We had a wedding and spring break broke out!”
