Real Wedding: Scout & Nick

When a bride and groom work in the wedding industry, you know their own big day will be something special, and Scout and Nick’s rustic estate wedding is no exception. Photographed by Suzi Jacobs, their nuptials and reception at La Bella Vida Estate combined an outdoorsy free spirit with sophistication.

Scout’s brother and Nick have been best friends for years, so Scout and Nick essentially grew up together. They went on to start The Photo Bus, an Encinitas-based photobooth rental (housed in a vintage Volkswagen!), and this past summer, Nick proposed at Petco Park after a Padres game in San Diego. “When the game was almost over someone came and got us and said they “randomly” chose two people to watch the sky show from home plate on the field,” Scout says. “When we got down there, we enjoyed the amazing fireworks and on the grand finale he got down on one knee there on the field and asked me to marry him! After I quickly said yes, I heard cheering only to turn around and see all our family and friends in the seats near the field!”

The couple wanted an outdoor wedding that maintained a classy, sophisticated vibe, and decided on La Bella Vida. The estate, owned by one of Nick’s work acquaintances, was in the process of being flipped into a wedding venue so it was the perfect time to christen the space with a (seriously) beautiful couple tying the knot.
