Real Wedding: Vanessa & Jimmy

Vanessa and Jimmy’s colorful real wedding at Holman Ranch was a celebration of love, and a party for friends and family to enjoy this playful, fun-loving couple.

I adore these two! Vanessa and Jimmy are college friends of my sister’s, and when I met them during graduation weekend a few years back, I felt like they became friends of mine, too! After their wedding last summer, my sister couldn’t stop talking about how much fun everyone had throughout the weekend, as well as the unique details and special touches Vanessa and Jimmy incorporated into their wedding day. Perhaps my favorite is this special rock Vanessa and her dad have hidden back and forth from each other for years. Vanessa gave the rock back to her dad one final time when he gave her away at the front of the aisle. You will see him holding the same rock during his speech at the beautiful reception held at Holman Ranch in Carmel Valley, CA. Vanessa and Jimmy felt right at home, having a family ranch of their own, and in true ranch fashion, Vanessa swapped out her Jimmy Choo heels for a stunning pair of cowboy boots as they danced the night away under deer antler “chandeliers” adorned with gorgeous, colorful flowers.

Most importantly, Vanessa and Jimmy wanted this day to be a reflection of who they are as a couple. From the wedding photos of parents and grandparents, to a casino area with blackjack tables, to a tuna love ceremony by Michi Sushi with a fresh 150lb tuna!, the day truly reflected what the two appreciate and enjoy. Some less obvious but meaningful details included their wedding rings: both bands were made from the gold of Jimmy’s late grandfather’s ring, which meant a lot to both Vanessa and Jimmy. Vanessa’s “something borrowed” was her garter, which was worn first by her grandmother and then by her mother, a special family heirloom. Groomsmen were given unique cufflinks to represent their friendship with the groom, and Jimmy’s college friends kicked off the party by singing Seal’s “Kiss From A Rose.” The dancing got started with a round of limoncello shots for all guests, while friends and family of the bride and groom showered the couple with smiles, laughter, and love throughout the night. Congratulations Vanessa and Jimmy!
