Real Wedding: Lindsay & Kellogg

After years of growing up in the same circle of friends, Lindsay Del Rey, 29, and Kellogg Boynton IV, 29, realized that there might be something more between them. Fast-forward seven years and “just friends” turned into “just married.” Both natives of San Diego, the couple kept their big day local with a beautiful outdoor ceremony at the Omni La Costa Resort & Spa. The World on a String

Kellogg and Lindsay chose all string music for the wedding ceremony, played by the Vitamin String Quartet. The groomsmen walked down the aisle to a rendition of Queen’s “Another One Bites the Dust,” while Lindsay walked to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.

Making a Commitment

“It was very difficult for me—the process of choosing one dress that you would have to see over and over again for the rest of your life,” says Lindsay. But then she found a Somsi dress at The Bustle in Del Mar. “I made a few changes to the original design and, as it kept coming back with those changes, I grew more excited. In the end, it was one of my favorite parts of my wedding.”

Marigold Magic

Searching one day for wedding inspiration, Lindsay was struck by the vibrant color and vivacity of the marigold flower. The hue became a focal accent that stood out against the subtle white and gold background, which included elements like the chevron table runners.

Labor of Love

Lindsay handmade all of the décor herself. She spent six months making the name cards that would be placed into champagne glasses for each of the 115 guests.

A Step Ahead

Opting out of more traditional wedding footwear, Lindsay stepped into a pair of wedding booties for her big day, while her bridal party stayed grounded in flat sandals. Kellogg and his groomsmen donned his favorites, Converse, for the big day.

An Outdoor Affair

“We wanted an outdoor ceremony and reception,” Lindsay says. “After some creative arranging, we were able to have it all on one terrace overlooking the golf course.”
