San Diego Real Wedding: Kelle & Jack Montague

When Kelle Collins, 30, walked into a bar in Santa Monica in early 2012, John “Jack” Montague IV, 30, knew that he had met someone special. After returning from a month-long trip to Asia, Jack asked Kelle out on their first date. And it wouldn’t be long till he proposed. Two coasts collided as Jack’s family flew from New York for the wedding. At Kelle’s hometown church in Carmel Valley, they were married by Father Nick, who lives just down the street from the bride’s parents. —Katelyn Montero

Finding the Perfect Dress

After receiving the dress that she ordered from a bridal store in the wrong material and wrong color, Kelle was dress-less with only three weeks left before the wedding. Luckily, she found an Ines Di Santo dress at M Bride in La Jolla and was able to get it altered in time. In fact, she even liked the final dress more than the original one.

Live Performance

Two of Kelle’s cousins sang Martina McBride and Train’s “Marry Me” and were accompanied by the band The Heroes as the bride and groom made their debut on the dance floor.

Tee Time

Both Kelle and Jack are big fans of golf, and being surrounded by the lush greens of the Santaluz Club was a great bonus. The couple incorporated golf tees as place card holders and used an emblem of two intertwined golf clubs on their guests’ cards.

A Sweet Surprise

Before the wedding, the priest had Kelle and Jack each write down five things they were looking forward to in their marriage, but they weren’t allowed to share them with one another before the ceremony. During the ceremony, the priest shared these with their friends and family.

Color Coordinated

Kelle and Jack chose their two favorite colors, pink and blue, to pop against the white reception tent.

Fun and Games

Kelle and Jack set up lawn games at the reception. “The guests that weren’t from California had never seen them before, and they loved being able to play,” Kelle says.
