When Sarah and Jake first met in 2009 at a New Jersey bar, little did they know four years down the road they would be saying their “I dos” at Calumet Park overlooking the La Jolla cliffs.
Depending on who you ask, Sarah and Jake have slightly different stories on how they actually met and where their love story started. The funny thing is both story versions are told with such clarity and authority that it really leaves you wishing you were a fly on the wall of “wherever” it was in 2009. Regardless of how, where, and when, they were only together for about six months before Jake moved to San Diego, a move he had already planned before meeting Sarah.
However, the coast-to-coast move didn’t stop these two from being together. They did long distance for about a year and a half before Sarah took the plunge and moved her life out West.
Luckily for me, I have the privilege of knowing this beautiful couple and was fortunate to experience their real wedding first hand. Sarah and Jake are that kind of couple you look forward to spending time with because you know at the end of the night your stomach will hurt from laughing so hard. They are the perfect balance in each other and truly make one another shine. And set in the picturesque backdrop of the La Jolla cliffs, their wedding was no different.
From a Polaroid camera Photo Booth for the guestbook, a hilarious Officiant’s speech, to a British tourist bus for guest transportation, Sarah and Jake’s real wedding represented the fun-loving nature of their relationship. My favorite aspect of their wedding was the personal touch of deciding to forego wedding favors and instead donate to the San Diego Polinsky Center, a temporary shelter for children who have been separated from their families for their own safety. Sarah, a Special Education elementary teacher, previously worked with a student who spent numerous months at the center due to some tragic situations, and both Jake and Sarah wanted to contribute toward the cause in any way they could. Their real wedding donation went to enhance and enrich the lives of resident children during their stay.
I could go on and on about this wonderful couple, but I’ll let their photos (courtesy of SheWanders) do the rest of the talking…
Here’s to a lifetime of happiness for Sarah and Jake!
