Engagement Photos: Home Is Where The Heart Is

David proposed to Jamie at their Arizona home, so they decided to shoot engagement photos right where the magic happened…after all, home is where the heart is!

This is one of my favorite love stories! David grew up in Ohio, next door to Jamie’s cousin, so the two spent their early years playing together (and crushing on each other) during Jamie’s annual visit from California. After turning down a first date proposal to a Bar Mitzvah when she was 9 and he was 11 (and dates to Bar Mitzvahs really aren’t allowed!), Jamie and David didn’t see each other for almost ten years. It wasn’t until Jamie was a high school Senior, applying to colleges, that the two would reconnect. Their moms (long-time friends from Ohio) set them up for a weekend at the University of Arizona, where David (a college Sophomore at the time) could show Jamie around. As fate would have it, Jamie was accepted to the U of A where she and David started dating her Freshman year. Both ambitious individuals, they chased their dreams and started careers in two very different places – David in Arizona, and Jamie in Los Angeles, and it wasn’t until Jamie moved to New York that the two broke up for good.

For three years, they went without any contact, until a random run-in while Jamie was in Arizona for literally one day and night, working. Good thing David has a sweet tooth, because while Jamie was having dinner, David was getting his fix at the ice cream parlor next door! They reconnected, this time for good, and the rest is history!

The darling couple had some casual engagement photos taken at their home because that is the place David proposed, and the location of the wedding as well! For their Save the Date, they used an image that was inspired by the final scene from “The Graduate.” They actually got on a real school bus for the shoot – a fitting reference seeing that they’ve known each other since grade school. They used the tag line “ITS BEEN A LONG RIDE. JOIN US AS WE MAKE THE FINAL STOP” because they have a history of about 20 years – starting in Ohio, continuing throughout college, living in different cities for their careers and then finding their way back to each other…the final stop will be April 12th on their wedding day!

Jamie is always my go-to gal for fashion and beauty tips (can you blame me?! She’s just the cutest!) You can catch Jamie on some of the most popular morning, daytime and entertainment TV shows: E! News, EXTRA, Entertainment Tonight, The Today Show, The Talk (and many more!) as she regularly contributes to national networks – talking about all things beauty and style. And don’t forget to follow this fashion maven on Instagram and twitter, and if you’re obsessed (like me), her wedding at #baumdotcom.

Cheers to your upcoming wedding, Jamie & David! I’m sure it’ll be…BAUM! xo
