Real Wedding: Hannah & Brennen

Despite sharing the same hallways at Santa Fe Christian High School for four years, Hannah Vonk and Brennen Leftwick never had a single class together and didn’t get to know each other until their senior year. Brennen asked Hannah to be his girlfriend on New Year’s Day 2009—the same day he would propose to her three years later near Fletcher Cove in Solana Beach. The couple tied the knot in front of 200 guests at the Santaluz Club in Black Mountain Ranch. —Emily Burns

IN LOVE WITH LAVENDER

From the beginning, Hannah had imagined a wedding accented with lavender, but it wasn’t until she saw her bridesmaids’ dresses that she began to incorporate it in a big way.

HOLD IT CLOSE

A cross from Hannah’s late grandmother accented her bouquet of amnesia roses, garden roses, and ranunculus.

DRAWN TO LOVE

When visiting The White Dress in Corona Del Mar, Hannah was surprised to discover that Antonio Gual, the designer of the dress she had fallen in love with, was in the store that day. When she returned to pick up her gown, she found that Gual had left her a sketch of the dress!

A WINE TOAST

The guests toasted with Schug wine, provided by the bride’s grandfather who opened the Schug Carneros Estate Winery with his late wife in Sonoma County in 1980, nearly 20 years after the couple emigrated from Germany.

NOW SERVING

For dinner, guests were treated to grilled salmon with pink peppercorn sauce and filet mignon with port wine sauce, Yukon gold mashed potatoes, and grilled asparagus.
