Engagement Story: Nautical Love

Tamara and Curtis were set up by a mutual friend, Jessica, who has matchmaking down to an art: of the four couples she has set up, three have tied the knot; Tamara and Curtis will be the fourth! Here’s their fairytale engagement story.

Curtis planned a super special proposal that would indefinitely take Tamara by surprise. While Tamara’s parents were in town visiting, the couple enjoyed brunch with both their families at the San Diego Yacht Club the morning of March 24th, when Tamara’s dad mentioned he had to meet a client for a few hours and may not be able to attend dinner later that evening. Curtis, seeing that Tamara was bummed about her dad’s “client meeting,” insisted they plan a fun date night out and hopefully her parents could meet up later. The two dressed to impress and headed to Herringbone, one of their favorite spots in La Jolla. They sat at a romantic table for two where they enjoyed catching up on the last few days spent with their families. Curtis then took Tamara’s hand from across the table, and began a more serious conversation. He expressed his love for her, and that he was ready to spend the rest of their lives together! He got down on one knee and proposed with a gorgeous ring. Tamara immediately said “YES!” as patrons and staff at Herringbone clapped and a server snapped photos of the special moment.

After the proposal, Curtis led Tamara upstairs to a private room where both their parents and his family were waiting to celebrate the newly engaged couple! Curtis even had a special “Engagement Menu” prepared. They enjoyed a night full of toasts and celebrations, then Curtis told Tamara he had just one more surprise up his sleeve: he had already contacted Tamara’s manager at work who approved for her to have Monday off, and Tamara’s overnight bag (packed in secret by Curtis, of course) was waiting in the car. They were headed downtown to the Andaz where they enjoyed champagne and chocolate covered strawberries, and spent the next day relaxing poolside as the wedding planning ensued! They will tie the knot this Fall at the San Diego Yacht Club, where Curtis grew up sailing and the place where they brunched just hours before the proposal.
Congrats Tamara and Curtis! Wishing you two all the best!
