Finishing Touches: Dessert Trends

Dessert is often one of the last things selected in the planning process but it can make such a lasting impact on your guests. Eventity, a premier event planning company in San Diego, was kind enough to share their predictions for the next big dessert trends. Together with Heidi-O-Photo, they brought to life a few of these delectable treats. Whoopie pies and fizzy drinks will replace fondant and buttercream as brides get a bit more inventive. Which one of these is a must-have for your dessert bar?

Whoopie Pies are as American as apple pie. These creations began as an Amish tradition when they would bake the delights as special rewards for a hard day’s work. These whoopie pies are from the Cookie Sandwich Company.
French Macarons are sweet, bite-size confections made with egg whites, sugar, almond powder and food coloring. Although not new to pastry lovers, bakeries are giving brides a rainbow of color choices now so you can make your macarons match your color scheme. These macaroons are from Cafe Madeleine.
Cake Pops are literally popping up everywhere. These moist little delights come in so many shapes and sizes that you can offer a variety of styles at a time. They look beautiful on display but are even more delightful to eat. These cake pops are from our favorite San Diego bakery, Tailored Sweets.
Soda Pop Bottles with customized labels and matching straws make a perfect favor and an added treat during your wedding. This concept can expand to include a “create your own float” station. We love these Dry Soda flavors which come in Lavender, Rhubarb and Cucumber, among others.
