Organic Elements
I got involved in weddings because it was the next natural step. I've been drawing and painting since I was six and designing florals professionally since I was eighteen. Though designing individual orders was always fun and different, working as part of a team on an entire floral scene is far more rewarding. To take my couple's unique vision and translate it into a tangible, scented reality is the most gratifying job I've ever had, and ever will.
I find inspiration in everything. I study plant structures from root, to stock to bloom. Fashion for colors, textures and lines. Architecture for balance, mechanics and function. Everyone who loves what they do sees their job as art, as do I.
My dream wedding includes uncompromising attention to detail. A wedding in which a couple leaves many little surprises for their guests to discover and enjoy.
My passion outside of work is my family. I am raising the most amazing little girl with my wonderful husband. We got married three years ago this month, I'll never forget that amazing day, or any day since. I can't wait to watch this little one grow. Maybe one day she'll choose to lead up the company.
My favorite part of a wedding is getting a hug from the mother of the bride and often the bride as well. When they receive the bouquets or walk into the reception space and say, "This looks so much better than what we had even imagined". Then I know I've earned my keep.
If I could travel anywhere, that's just not fair to make me choose one place. If I can snorkel it, I have to dive in. Places on the list are Tahiti, various Caribbean islands and the Great Barrier Reef.
My advice to a bride on her wedding day is shed, and I know this is hard, but shed all of the stress that has led up to this day. Have an amazing coordinator to fight your battles, hand off your cell phone and enjoy a relaxing massage that morning. Give yourself twice as long to do everything as you think it'll take, ensure that you'll have the time to simply stroll through your day.
I love Exquisite Weddings because, beyond being a beautifully finished publication, it has the most amazing staff I've ever met. Everyone works so hard, not to make a quota, but to work together to create an unbelievable product. And though each issue does well, the group continues to put together regular think tanks to make sure that the best has always yet to come.
