What is the most unique way that you have seen a bride personalize her wedding day outfit with an accessory?
One of my brides commissioned me to create a whole look. I made her headpiece using vintage jewelry pieces, feathers and fabric in her colors. I spruced up her shoes with vintage trim, she then added her wedding color of eggplant into the tulle at the bottom of her dress. We also did hair fascinators and jewelry for all her bridesmaids and flower girls in the same colors. The whole look was fabulously her.
Why do you think that wedding day accessories have become so popular?
It's the perfect way to personalize the event to reflect the couples personality. A single accessory changes the entire look without spending a bundle. Everyone wants to add a little something special to their attire.
Tell us a little bit about your accessories and what makes them special.
My materials and attention to detail make my pieces so special. I use a lot of vintage broaches and jewelry in the pieces to make them one of a kind and special. Which means I spend many many hours just searching for the perfect pieces. I also hand select every material from the feathers to the fabrics, I'm very picky with what I will use in each piece. I refuse to settle on my selection. I hand craft each one stitch by stitch, sometimes pricking my own fingers. I take my time with each piece, no factory here and work closely with my clients to make sure we get the piece just right.
How did you first get into the world of bridal accessories?
I've always made things ever since I was a child, leaving messes everywhere I went and still do. I have an obsession with textiles so when I found the most amazing piece of raw silk fabric I couldn't help myself but make flowers out of it to put in my hair. I just kept adding and trying new materials like feathers and tulle in my creations. It was Michele Martin from M Bride that spotted my goods and requested I create a line of headpieces for her Bridal boutique and from there I fell in love with making pretty things for brides.
What is your advice to brides before their wedding day OR on their wedding day?
Relax, take deep breaths and don't rush anything, absorb all you can and take mental snap shots during the day. It goes by way too fast to be stressed out, get an amazing planner and let them handle all the little details.
What is your favorite accessory that you have seen a bride wear?
The most important accessory of all is the ring but to be specific a heirloom engagement ring passed from grandmother to the groom for his bride
