Gift Registry Trends
Now and again the question comes up: The couple has everything and does not want to register for gifts. What do they do? Here are some options.
• Set up on online account to have guests donate to your favorite charity.
• Ask guests to bring a special gift, such as books or bath items and donate them to your local women’s shelter.
• Keep in mind that gift-giving is always done at the behest of the guest. So don’t get all in a huff if someone chooses to purchase a gift anyway.
• Set up a registry with just a limited number of items. This is for your elder guests who may prefer to go the traditional route of gift-giving.
• Be mindful of the causes you select and donate to. It’s best to avoid what can be considered hot-button or controversial issues. Examples are stem-cell research, same-sex marriage, marijuana legalization or abortion. Keep it on an even keel and geared more toward world issues that help people for health and living.
