The Death Flower

So originally I was going to go with just calla lilies. Plain and simple, right? Well that was until someone informed me that callas are the DEATH FLOWER!! (dum dum dum dum).
So I looked it up and sure enough I found several references to the calla lily being commonly used at funerals.
First of all - Who says that? To a bride? About her wedding flowers?
Second of all- I didn't really care THAT much, but it was on my mind and I didn't want to be thinking about death on my wedding day.
So my Mom and Rene suggested I take another look at flowers and try to come up with a new plan. This past weekend my Mom paid me a visit and we browsed the flower books and mags once again and came up with some new ideas.
I really like the idea of lots of white with some yellow popping up here and there. The plan is to hopefully use white peonies, hydrangeas and roses mixed with some big bold yellow flowers. And we wanted to tie in the citrus theme so that’s when we came up with the lemon slices.
My mom and I were so excited about the new idea that we ran to the grocery store and grabbed any white or yellow flower that resembled the look we were going for and put together these little creations. Now they're just a rough draft. I know Rene's will look a million times better but hopefully this will give you an idea of what we have in mind.
I also really like the look of the square vases, not sure about the little beads in them though. What do you guys think? I'm open to ideas and suggestions.
P.S. You'll notice there are a few calla lilies in these arrangements because I can't just totally let them go....

I love the yellow flowers and the square vase with the lemons! Very bright and fun! What if you tired a white sand in the bottom of the vases or light colored, finer material rather than the beads. Just an idea. Looks like you are having fun with it! I like the calas, pretty and simple! :)

"Since ancient Roman times, the magnificent calla lily has been a treasured flower of celebration. And today, the calla lily rivals the rose as the most popular choice for brides on their wedding day."
I hope you stay with the calla lily.
