Creative Director’s Letter
AS THE CREATIVE DIRECTOR of Exquisite Weddings, I immerse myself in all the little details brides obsess about. With this issue the obsessing became personal: I got engaged right after completing the spring/summer issue. It was finally my turn to plan a wedding.
Planning my own wedding gave me great insight into what's on the mind of our readers. I realized there are topics we hadn't even thought of covering for the magazine (hunting for the perfect veil and the bridal beauty regime have been weighing on my mind). I finally have firsthand knowledge of how many decisions need to be made when planning a wedding. I can safely say that my wedding planner, Merilee Hennings of Ever After Events, has been invaluable. After months spent searching for the perfect gown, tasting cakes and visiting more unique locations for San Diego weddings than I ever knew existed, I can't imagine the process without her.
One of my favorite parts of planning my wedding was our engagement photo session. Jennifer Dery had us run wild through downtown and the pictures were amazing. Marty, my fiancé, and I didn't want our day to end. Who knew we'd have so much fun being models?
I must admit it was a blessing and a curse to have worked with the best of San Diego's bridal community on Exquisite Weddings. On one hand, I knew the best vendors in town. On the other, I was overwhelmed by all the wonderful relationships I'd fostered and didn't know how I would choose! Brides in San Diego are very lucky to have so much talent to work with.
I look forward to sharing memories of my wedding day in the next issue of Exquisite Weddings. Enjoy your celebration as much as I'm looking forward to enjoying mine!
