Setting the Scene

The cool sea breeze carries a hint of sage in it. Gulls wheel and dive over the bluffs. You gaze out over the ocean and the world is very far away. You’re at The Lodge at Torrey Pines.

Though only five years old, The Lodge carries a timeless feel to it, helped in part by the beautiful Craftsman-style architecture and attention to detail so evident throughout the hotel. Inspired by and reflecting the natural setting of sandstone formations and pine trees, The Lodge offers unsurpassed elegance for weddings and receptions.

The Lodge was also the perfect setting for our gorgeous tablescapes. A magnificent fall fantasy was discovered in the Reserve, while the Pacific Ocean was captured and tamed in the Charles Fries Room. An Italian safari set up camp on the Arroyo Terrace and a fabulous dogwood tree sprouted in the Blacker Suite. Succulents embellished golden plates in a floral delight on a suite patio. Shimmering taffeta and fresh tomatoes paired up with French Orange roses on the Charles Fries Deck, and two famous designers finally met at A.R. Valentien.

The Reserve

Paul Bott used Granny smith apples in tall cylinder vases topped with floating candles, and clusters of green parrot tulips, green cymbidium orchids and “super green” roses in square glass containers. Prunus branches added more height and texture to create an earthy, natural fantasy. The chocolate cake with apples and orchids on a silver stand took center stage and scattered petals provided whimsical elegance.
